Dry Red Wine - PROTECTED GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATION CYCLADES
This dry red wine is produced by the varietals Mavrotragano, Voudomato and Athiri which cover 5-7 % of Santorini’s vineyards. Those varietals are called “xenoloa” in the local dialect, so the name of the wine.
Grapes are harvested early to mid-August. The contact of the skins with the juice is only for less than a day. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats at 20-22° C, which is followed by the maturation in French oak barrels for 8-10 months.
Xenoloo is an alternative red wine, with aromas of matured red fruits and nuts, friendly tannins and balanced aftertaste. It is made in such a way to be an ideal accompaniment to all classic Greek cuisine.
